About QOTFC
QOTFC
The Queensland Occupational Therapy Fieldwork Collaborative (QOTFC) was formed in 2004 and comprises the occupational representatives from the three Queensland Universities providing occupational therapy training, occupational therapy professional bodies, and major employers. All of the stakeholders have the common goal of furthering fieldwork opportunities and experiences in the state of Queensland for the ultimate benefit of the health and well-being of the citizens of Queensland.
The QOTFC website
It is with pleasure that the Queensland Occupational Therapy Fieldwork Collaborative (QOTFC) presents this website to occupational therapists who currently support the professional education and development of occupational therapy students, and those who may wish to in the future.
The aim of this website is to provide resource material to supplement the training and support provided by the fieldwork managers. It is expected that resources will be updated and added to on a regular basis.
The QOTFC hopes that this website will promote and support the fieldwork opportunities available to occupational therapy students.
Currently the QOTFC site contains three modules:
Module One: The QOTFC and Occupational Therapy Clinical Education
This module contains information on the QOTFC, "myth busting" fact sheets about clinical education and resources to support occupational therapists contemplating the clinical education of students.Module Two: Clinical Educator's Resource Kit
This module contains detailed and comprehensive information covering topics such as pre-placement considerations for student clinical education; setting up and sustaining positive student clinical placements; approaches to clinical education; the feedback process and evaluation; and working with students who are experiencing difficulty. A range of reference documents, worksheets and resource templates are available as links in this module and provide valuable resources to support the clinical education of occupational therapy students.Module Three: The Placement Grants Scheme
This module contains information, templates and resources for use by occupational therapists in a regional/rural locality to help them approach local businesses and organisations for support for occupational therapy student fieldwork placements e.g. to defray travel and accommodation expenses.Acknowledgements
This website was established by Web Services of The University of Queensland in consultation with Ms Cate Fitzgerald and Mrs Anne-Marie Hunter on behalf of the QOTFC. The development of this website was an outcome of the QOTFC project "Engaging the Clinicians". This state-wide project aimed to increase collaboration between and commitment to student fieldwork education by occupational therapists in Queensland. The QOTFC would like to thank Queensland Health for the funding for this project. The QOTFC would also like to thank and acknowledge the support of the numerous occupational therapists around Queensland who contributed their ideas, time and resources to this project thereby enabling it to achieve a range of outcomes, one of which is this website.
